When a home owner loses power to an electrical outlet or lighting, one possible problem could be a tripped circuit breaker. Locate the circuit breaker panel and open the access door to inspect the position of the breaker toggle. Unless a breaker is unused or faulty it should be in the ON position. Warning, under no circumstances should you remove the main cover exposing wires and the main buss bar. Several screws hold this cover in place. If you find a breaker toggle that is in the middle position it usually means this breaker is tripped. There are multiple reasons why a breaker would trip, such as too many appliances on one circuit, or it could be from an electrical short. It is recommended that you know the cause of the power loss. In the case of a short call a licensed electrician. Before resetting any breaker always stand to the side, never in front of the breaker. If you have any reservations or are uncomfortable handling this problem, please call us.
First disconnect all appliances from the outlets in question and or turn off any light switches. If the breaker was tripped from over amping move the toggle to the off position and then reset it to the on position. If the breaker does not reset on the first try, do not try again. How to Replace a Thermostat.
First thing to know is what type of air conditioner you have. Examples are electric heat pump, natural gas heater or heat strips. It is also good to know what brand of air conditioner you have. All heat pump systems have a reversing valve that switches the system from heating to cooling. Most systems energize the reversing valve in cooling. Purchase the correct thermostat for your system. You must disconnect all power to your air conditioning system before you begin. When you remove the old thermostat from the wall, you will write down which color wire goes to each letter terminal on the sub-base. Example, the white colored wire might go to the W terminal on the sub-base. Warning, most all brands of thermostats have different locations for their connection points and various functionalities. It is recommended that you understand these items before installation. Some thermostats require programming and setting options to be input. Beware of the common wire, if your thermostat requires 24 volts there will be an additional wire that will connect to the C terminal on the sub-base. If you are at all apprehensive on how to install your thermostat, please call us and we will send a technician to your location for proper installation.

How to Drain Your Residential Water Heater
Warning, if your water heater or any of the shut off valves are older than two years, we do not recommend draining the heater yourself. Older valves can break or leak leaving you with an emergency call to your plumber. If you feel unsure at all about this task, please call Pure Quality for assistance.First thing you should know when attempting to drain your water heater is if it is a gas or electric heater. If it is a gas heater you will be required to shut off the gas to the heater. Toward the bottom of the tank there will be a gas valve with a flexible or hard galvanized line feeding to it. If you follow this line away from the gas valve there will be a shut off ball valve that will be facing the direction of the pipe. Turn this valve 90 degrees from the pipe to shut off the gas. You will be able to turn it with your hand, do not use any tools to turn this valve. Alert, some gas heaters have a manual pilot light system on them; you will have to follow the instructions provided on the heater to re-light.
If you have an electric heater, locate the correct breaker in your main panel and shut it off. This breaker is usually a 30 amp, 2 pole breaker, labeled water heater. Returning to the water heater you should see 2 copper lines attached to the top of your heater. On top of the heater next to these lines you will find one is marked cold and the other is marked hot. Following the cold line back to the wall you will see a shut off valve; you must close this valve before draining the tank. Once the valve is closed, look at the lower portion of the heater to locate the drain valve. This valve has a hose bib connection on it that will allow you to connect a garden hose and run to an approved drain. Open the drain valve to drain the water from the tank. Turning on a hot water faucet in the home will allow the system to drain a little faster. Reverse these steps to re-fill the heater and restore power or gas. Note; there will be air in the hot water line that will need to be purged by turning on a hot water faucet in the home. Warning, even on newer heaters a problem can arise with any of items involved.
